Islamic Centre Canteen
Monday to Sunday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
About the business
The Islamic Center canteen, situated within the Ammar Mosque and the Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Centre, was established in 2005 by the Islamic Union of Hong Kong. It was the first restaurant in Hong Kong to offer halal dim sum. "Yam Cha," which translates to "drink tea," is a popular cuisine in Hong Kong. It typically consists of bite-sized traditional Chinese dishes served alongside tea, and is enjoyed by large groups of people together.
What's unique?
The Islamic Center canteen is located in the city center, Wan Chai, making it easily accessible. It is one of the few restaurants in Hong Kong selling Dim Sum and catering to the needs of Muslim eaters in the city. It transforms the predominantly pork-based dim sum into a halal version that is permissible for Muslims to savor. The halal version of Dim Sum excludes pork. Lard or meat that is not prepared according to Islamic law. Instead replace it with Muslim-friendly chicken, beef, shrimp, and so on. The chefs are Chinese professionals and specially trained to handle halal food, keeping the authentic flavor of Chinese food. If you are a Muslim visitor to the city, this place is not to be missed.
