Meet Gajendra: The Visionary Behind PFG Store, A Global Bazaar with a Nepalese Heart
In the lively, multicultural district of Jordan, Kowloon, where narrow streets buzz with energy and diverse aromas drift through the air, a unique grocery store is making its mark. Tucked away at 195 Shanghai Street, PFG Store is the brainchild of Gajendra, a passionate entrepreneur from Nepal who is bridging cultures through food and community.
A Journey from Nepal to Hong Kong
Gajendra was born and raised in Nepal, where he studied pharmacy before moving to Hong Kong in 2008. His family’s ties to the city date back to his grandparents' time, who settled here through service in the British Army. Though his educational background was in science, Gajendra always had an entrepreneurial spirit—a desire to create something of his own and connect with people through shared experiences.
In July 2025, he took the leap and opened PFG Store.
“I wanted to explore, to understand the locals, and to introduce our culture while learning about theirs,” Gajendra shares. “It’s not just a business—it’s a way to bring people together.”
PFG Store: A Cultural Mosaic
What makes PFG Store stand out is its unique blend of Nepalese identity and international appeal. While the store is rooted in Nepalese culture and run by a Nepalese team, it proudly offers products from around the globe with a special focus on Asian goods. For example, they do have a dedicated section for the Nepalese spicice.
“We want to diversify the goods,” Gajendra says with a smile. “AND We label every section and every corner, so that when you get in our shop, you can see everything easily.”
Among the store’s standout offerings are Nepalese teas, traditional drinks, and homemade pickles—each carrying the authentic, bold flavors of his homeland. One of the store’s key collaborators is Nepcha, a tea brand that aims to bridge cultural gaps between Hong Kong’s diverse communities.
Rooted in Community
Gajendra chose Jordan as the home for his business for a simple yet powerful reason: it’s a hub for the Nepalese community. Like many startups, PFG Store faced challenges in its early days. “At the beginning, everything was messy,” Gajendra recalls. Delays in supply and setup pushed the team behind schedule. But with persistence and a clear vision, they gradually found their footing.
But Gajendra’s vision extends beyond one community. He felt the necessity to constantly offer something new, and that’s when he decided to collaborate with emerging brands like Nepcha—a partnership that quickly resonated with customers and brought a fresh wave of energy to the store. Now PFG Store has become a platform for new brands and ideas, welcoming collaborations and new partnerships.
“We always say: ‘Let’s have cooperation. New ideas and new brands are always welcome,’” Gajendra emphasizes. This open-door philosophy has turned the store into a small but vibrant community hub.
Looking Ahead
Gajendra’s plans for PFG Store go beyond retail. Together with Nepcha, he is preparing to host Nepalese tea workshops in a dedicated space inside the store. These sessions will not only introduce customers to traditional tea rituals but also foster deeper cultural understanding and connection. Through PFG Store, Gajendra is not only sharing the flavors of Nepal but also creating an inclusive space where different cultures meet and mingle.
So the next time you’re in Jordan, step into the PFG Store. Whether you’re picking up a jar of spicy Nepalese pickle, sipping on a cup of Nepcha tea, or simply browsing through global goods, you’re supporting a dream built on diversity and connection.
