From Full-Time Mum to Takeaway Kitchen Owner: The Story of Fusion Kitchen in Jordan, Hong Kong
Meet Pitthya Gurung, the full-time mum who now runs Fusion Kitchen, a halal Nepalese takeaway in Jordan, Hong Kong, serving fresh, home-style food.
In the busy streets of Jordan, where the scent of spices drifts through narrow alleyways, a small takeaway kitchen is quietly winning hearts. Fusion Kitchen isn’t a flashy restaurant with neon signs or waitstaff. It’s a no-seating, no-frills kitchen run by a family who knows the value of hard work.

At its centre is Pitthya Gurung, a Nepali woman who never expected to own a business, but who now runs one with her husband, Mohan, and a small team.
An Unexpected Beginning
Pitthya has lived in Hong Kong for 14 years. For most of that time, her life revolved around raising her kids and looking after the home, while Mohan worked at a Brazilian restaurant. Then, in 2022, an opportunity came out of nowhere. The owner of a small Nepalese takeaway shop was leaving and offered them the business. Without hesitation, Pitthya and Mohan said yes. “Maybe it was God’s plan,” she says.
The name, the menu and the setup were all inherited from the previous owner. But the heart behind it? That became theirs.
Fresh Food, Cooked with Care

Pitthya, Mohan and their small team prepare everything from scratch each day, using fresh spices and quality ingredients. Every dish is halal, and no pork is used in the kitchen. It’s the kind of honest, home-style cooking that keeps people coming back, even as more restaurants open nearby.
An Early Halal Friendly Restaurant in Jordan
When they started, there was almost no halal Nepalese food nearby. That gap drew in a steady stream of South Asian customers, including Pakistanis, Nepalis and Indians, along with many Muslims who finally had a trusted place to eat.
Over time, more halal options have popped up around the neighbourhood, and the shop sees fewer customers than it once did. Even so, Fusion Kitchen still welcomes quite a lot of regulars every day.
A Takeaway Kitchen

There’s only a few seats for dining area at Fusion Kitchen. It's mainly a takeaway restaurant, you can also order through Foodpanda, or contact them via call ahead of time to order food. If you're in Jordan (near Exit A), you can just to drop by the shop for food to go. It’s simple, efficient, and keeps the focus where it matters: on the food.
Running a takeaway kitchen isn’t easy. Between managing the business, caring for her kids and keeping up with daily prep, Pitthya’s days are nonstop. With very expensive rent in Hong Kong, every order counts. What they earn is enough to get by, and that’s what keeps them going. They’re not looking to expand or to become famous. They just want to serve good food and pay the bills.
A Message to the Community
“We hope people will visit and try our food. Support us, and we’ll keep cooking with heart.”
Pitthya’s request is simple. She isn’t asking for fame or pity, just a chance to feed the neighbourhood that has become her home.
